Burnished Zinc is simply natural Zinc with a nondirectional sanded finish. Although Zinc is one of many silver based metals, it has it’s own unique beauty. Light will reflect off of Zinc more white than it would off of Pewter or even Stainless. When Pewter ages, it creates a dark tarnish much like silver however, when Zinc is allowed to oxidize naturally, a white powder is formed pushing the tonal quality of the metal more toward gray and white. It is the perfect look for a space that leans toward the shabby chic or, if you are looking for a whiter, brighter reflection.
For countertops, we highly recommend leaving as a living finish, without any clear coat. We recommend this because although the metal itself is not porous and will not stain, the clear coat can be damaged which is not a good look on a counter.
